What it covers, what it costs, and whether it’s worth doing after you pass.
Pass Plus is a practical training course for new drivers, run by the DVSA. It’s designed to build your skills and confidence after you’ve passed your test. Here’s an honest look at whether it’s worth it.
The course has 6 modules:
It takes at least 6 hours, normally with at least 5.5 hours of driving. There’s no test at the end, but you’re assessed throughout and need to reach the required standard in every module.
Pass Plus must be taught by an approved driving instructor who’s registered for Pass Plus. You can check an instructor is registered by emailing the DVSA Pass Plus team at passplus@dvsa.gov.uk. We’re registered to teach Pass Plus.
There’s no set price. It depends on where you live, the instructor and how long your training takes. Some local councils offer discounts on the cost.
It might, but it isn’t guaranteed. Not all insurers offer a Pass Plus discount, so check with your insurer before you book if that’s your main reason for doing it.
We’re registered to teach Pass Plus, so you can do the full course with us, covering all 6 modules, on the roads around Hertfordshire you’ll actually be driving on. Call us on 0800 048 7098 to book or ask a question.
If you just want help with one thing, such as motorways or night driving, a few targeted lessons can work just as well. Read driving on the motorway for the first time.
